The following is an interactive data visualization compiled from over 6000 playlists created by American
users scraped from Spotify. It contains 5000 unique artists, the positions of which were determined by an
algorithm such that artists that coocur in the same playlists (i.e. have similar fanbases) are closer together.
The visualization illustrates large scale and small scale structure of the US music landscape. Use the search
bar to see if your favorite artists are included and where, and click on any artist to mark them in red. Have
